Title: Massillon Hospital Latest
Post by: Al. on September 14, 2018, 10:26:26 PM
You can’t make this stuff up.  :)

MASSILLON Paramount Matrix is no longer in the running to take over operations at the closed Affinity hospital.
Matthew Brock, a Paramount Matrix Healthcare managing partner, has been accused of fraud and embezzlement in Tennessee.

Exactly. Only going to expand Aultman West on Wales Rd. that includes a “full service ED.”  Nothing about bringing any services to old Affinity facility.
Aultman will pay the city $2.06 million to cover expenses incurred at Affinity since its acquisition and also will purchase some equipment from the facility at market value, but it will not utilize any of the former Affinity buildings.

Aultman is basically buying the rights to eliminate any potential competition in Massillon

And the City of Massillon will still be stuck with empty buildings that will require ongoing maintenance, or the buildings can just be left to deteriorate into decaying husks.

Just good solid governance and staunch protectors of the public weal.

There are plans for the building already in the works. Yes Aultman has the "rights" to it, but that just says they are first in line for discussions about it if they want to do anything with it. Plans are already being made, just not 100% approved by everyone involved.

Wonder why they don't want to use the building. Something weird about that. Is the building cursed or is it structurally unstable or is it waiting to be fined for code violations or something that they don't want to use it?

My guess is the location. The hospital is basically in a residential neighborhood. No easy highway access or at least main thoroughfare to get to it. Plus, there is a Kraus' Pizza across the street that distracts the employees from concentrating on their jobs.

Had a conversation with my Brother-n-law that lives in Overland Park Ks. His Dr. was telling him last week that more and more large hospitals will fade away and smaller satellite centers like Aultwest are the future, in part because it is easier to control staff infections and the spread of disease.

cheaper to operate too.  Affinity lost a ton of $; Mercy is also losing $, but have their foundation to help keep afloat (for the time being).  Aultman is so big it would take a lot to bring them down with their Aultman foundation, etc.  Hospitals are so much to operate, in some instances no other choice but to create something such as Aultman Massillon as a satellite.

Really? There are plans for the current hospital building. Well, pray tell please disclose. Other than tearing that dilapidated piece of shit down I can’t imagine what other “plans” there would be for it. Jesus Christ you people are so naive and gullible.

Number 1 in that article was letting the medical people do their job and city council staying out of it. Summa didn’t need the mayor on the board of directors. I have heard that’s the main reason several big hospital organizations said no thanks because Massillon was demanding inclusion on the board of directors of any company that came in.

Yep, tearing down eventually.  There are tentative plans/ideas for the land but nothing concrete yet.   Wait and see as always around Mass.

It would be a great spot for a new K-8 school, might be able to keep portions of the structure for the school. Call Chip and Joanne from Fixer Upper. Those people get shyt done. ;D

I noticed this gem in the Inde article that LAD Linked to:
Quote
The priest prayed with the family and administered last rights.
I'm not Catholic, but I'm certain that correct phrase is "last rites".  It's a sad commentary on the state of writing and editing in the Inde.
