Take a one-way trip to.....RIDER LAND!!!

I'm firing up the first salvo for the 2010 Tiger football team. I don't have to go out on much of a limb to say they're going to be very good. What really excites me is the Tigers have a coach vs. McKinley in the playoffs who 'went for it' on 4th and 1 from his own 35 yard line. They have a coach who has control of the program. Not every game is perfect, but Massillon still has a pretty solid X's and O's game and the players play their a**es off.

This 2010 team has talent, but more importantly, I think there is a hunger in Massillon for great things. It seems everyone is pulling in the same direction.

The schedule is winnable and should offer plenty of playoff points.

I look forward to another deep playoff run. I look forward to wins over Steubenville, Mentor, Warren, and McKinley. I look forward to the Tigers keeping "Massillon" in the minds of Ohio football fans.

To our detractors, Massillon is the pest that has never gone away. Economic recessions, declining enrollment, rising parochial schools, and changing times....yet Massillon keeps fielding a strong football team.

I hope the year 2010 is the year when the Tigers go "Walt Kowalski" on their opponents. From the movie Gran Torino, the old-school Walt told the punk gang members to "GET OFF MY LAWN!" Stand up for what is right....stand up for Massillon....defend our 22 state titles....be old school yet innovative....and kick a**!

Well, I say to the negative influences and detractors of Massillon.....GET OFF OUR LAWN! 2010 is going to be the Year of the Tiger!

If you've ever gotten a par on the 7th hole at the legendary Lyons Den and then ate a Hogzilla sammitch at SPUD'S in Bowdil following your round of golf, you are RIDER LAND material.

What's the matter with you jobronies? This Tiger team looks to be strong and not one single comment. What, are you local yokel ham 'n eggers all worried about Alex Wood leaving? I'll tell you what; I want one of those sideline play-calling cards for my personal collection of sports items. I would also like an autographed "two deep" depth chart used by Sports Time Ohio announcer Mike Cairns.

Rider Land is all about lighting fires.

Old geezers and phony politicians in the Booster Club....make way for A.J. the "Hispanic Panic" and his website www.Massillon.com. Let's get our stadium atmosphere FIRED UP like Steubenville's. They put on a CLINIC in 2009. That is how a game at PBTS used to be....and should be AGAIN. No more "Shout".....it's time for Ozzy. It's time to ROCK. It's time to get low brau. It's time to let lee loose with a few Bombay Sapphires in his system much to the chagrin of Mrs. lee.

Massillon is blue collar. It is not Le League Federale.

We are steak, burgers, and hot dogs on A.J.'s grill served on paper plates. Last Time Dark Time acting mysteriously like Kevin Sullivan in 1983 Florida Championship Wrestling. Lord Orange Blood talking about 1964. Florida Tiger calling in on the cell phone. Smitty riding around Idaho on his motorcycle. Tiger Carl typing up 10,000 word essays.

It time to LET IT RIP!

Players and coaches....don't take any s*it from ANYONE in 2010.

Give 'em the Walt Kowalski. Go Tigers! This website's fans are READY.

GET OFF OUR LAWN!!!!!

Since you decided to conjure up the name of TigerCarl (one of those old coots you were speaking of) . . .

See, us old coots, like me n' Orangeblood, we've been around a long while now, and we've seen a lot of high school football come down the pike.  Long before you were born, sonny boy, We were watching Massillon (and many OTHER teams) blow what looked like sure-fire championship seasons.  And nothing has changed as the years rolled by.

Let me say it this way -- if this 2010 rendition of the Massillon Tigers click the way I hope they will, then they have as good of a chance of being state champs as any of the best contenders in Ohio.

However, if they don't click together like a solid unit, then it's going to be a disappointing season.

They should finish somewhere between 4-6 and 15-0.

We don't want these kids getting a swell head about themselves at a time when they're still just body building.  You do that, and they'll almost for sure fall flat on their faces.  Okay?  You gotta be hungry -- no, STARVING -- to bust your butt at this time of the year, staying mentally zoned on what must be done to succeed.  And there can be NO letting up until the final play of the championship game is over.

Long ways to go for this bunch.  They haven't even snapped the ball for a single down, and people already have them winning the state title.

I've seen too much to be optimistic about such matters at this stage of life.  I'm not pessimistic, either.  I'm just cautious.  And experienced enough to know that players read this sort of thing and start thinking they're already state champs.

Not by a mile, even.  Like I said, they haven't even snapped the ball in their first summer practice yet.  You never know if a team is going to jell into a solid unit or not.  Right now their record is 0-0.
